Commonwealth Surgical Services, Inc. was founded in 2002 to provide quality Cardiothoracic, Vascular, and Endovascular Surgical care for persons living in Mifflin, Centre, Huntingdon, Juniata, and Snyder Counties in Pennsylvania. These rural areas did not have good local access to advanced technical and minimally invasive surgical care. Travel from the region to larger hospitals was difficult and senior citizens faced significant difficulty in receiving quality local care. Lewistown Hospital, Lewistown, Pennsylvania, a community based facility, is at the center of the area served. Working with the hospital an ICAVL accredited non-invasive vascular lab, wound clinic, vascular and thoracic surgical service, and minimally invasive vascular surgery service were developed. These services continue to grow due to patient needs. The past two years have seen the addition of minimally invasive varicose vein surgery, VNUS Closure thermal ablation, EVAR minimally invasive aneurysm surgery, and most recently ultrasonic venous thrombolysis for deep vein thrombosis.
Our emphasis is on quality and personal communication between the physician, the patient, and the family. We believe healthcare is a privilege and that the physician and patient can work together to achieve quality health for the patient. We believe patients should be informed about their care, and the risk, benefit, and alternatives to the care provided. If we fall short of these standards please let us know.
